This continuous digester top replacement was fabricated at our Glens Falls, NY facility. The replacement shell was fabricated in three sections, to facilitate trucking to the pulp and paper mill site in Georgia, then field assembled, onsite, into one piece and lifted into place.
The replacement shell was approximately 43 ft. tall and varied in diameter from 125″ to 186″ ID. Carbon steel-clad plates with bonded stainless steel, on the inside, were used to make up the shells. Nozzles, platform clips, repads, and internal components were installed in each section during shop fabrication. Requirements for design, fabrication, and testing of the replacement shell adhered to ASME Code and NBIC, as the existing vessel is a pressure vessel.
